Products – Micro RWD Hitag 1/S
Low-cost proximity RFID reader module supporting Philips Hitag 1, Hitag S256 and
Hitag S2048 passive RFID transponders/tags

The module is completely housed within a 24-pin DIP package (pin compatible with
other modules) and only requires a 5v supply and a 700 micro-Henry antenna coil to
be a fully featured read/write and tag acceptance system.

The RWD module has outstanding RF drive capability and has a read/write range to ISO
card size tags of up to 20cm whilst maintaining reliable communication and high
resilience to EMC corruption. This has been achieved through the RWD continuously
self-tuning to allow for inductive changes in the RF field and extensive software/hardware
filtering.

Micro RWD H1/S also supports an optional data encryption system that allows data to be
stored on the tag in an encrypted format. This encryption algorithm is linked to the tag’s
unique serial number and protects data from unauthorised access.

The RWD module has a TTL level RS232 interface that allows a host system to send and receive easy-to-use optimised commands/data (for example: Ascii “R” command to read tag data and Ascii “W” command to write tag data).

The RWD also has internal EEPROM memory for holding system parameters, encryption keys, lists of authorised serial numbers and supports direct LED drives to give visual indication of acceptance. Up to 100ma of drive current is also provided as an output that can be used to switch external loads.

Different versions are available which use the spare I/O pins to output data as clock/data signals or Weigand protocol signals (in addition to standard TTL RS232 interface).
