Micro RWD MIFARE-ICODE

Mirafe-Icode module

Low-cost proximity "Dual Tag" RFID reader module supporting Philips / NXP (ISO 14443A) Mifare 1k, Mifare 4k, Ultralight, Mifare ProX, SmartMX and ICODE SLI, TI Tag-it HF-I and other ISO15693 compliant cards and tags.

The module is completely housed within a 24-pin DIP package (pin compatible with other modules) and only requires a 5v supply and a 1 micro-Henry antenna board to be a fully featured read/write and tag acceptance system.

The RWD module has outstanding RF drive capability and has a read/write range to ISO card size tags of up to 10cm whilst maintaining reliable communication and high resilience to EMC corruption. This has been achieved through extensive software and hardware filtering and optimisation techniques.

The RWD module has a TTL level RS232 interface that allows a host system to send and receive easy-to-use optimised commands/data (for example: Ascii “R” command to read tag data and Ascii “W” command to write tag data).

The RWD also has internal EEPROM memory for holding system parameters, security key codes, lists of authorised serial numbers and supports direct LED drives to give visual indication of acceptance. Several Output drives are provided for switching external loads and for additional host communication protocols (each output capable of sourcing 25mA).

The latest version of the RWD-MIFARE ICODE firmware (also used on OEM-MIFARE / ICODE Reader boards) has additional features that allow the automatic output of serial number (UID) or card memory data without any host intervention. Automatic data output can be serial or Wiegand protocol. A programmable "BEEP" output is provided to control an audible sounder or other external loads.

The RWD module firmware also makes extensive use of power-down and Sleep modes to achieve very low AVERAGE current consumption of down to 100uA (micro Amps), even when fully active. This makes the IBT reader designs ideal for battery powered applications.
